the atz100, sigmature guitar of longtime ibanez artist andy timmons is based on the popular new az series with several unique modifications to make this instrument well-suited to andys specific needs. the atz100 features the one-piece maple neck crafted with s-tech wood, an az staple. s-tech wood is processed with a special nitrogen-heat treatment. this process increases the woods stability, durability, water resistance and tolerance to temperature changes. the neck is sealed with an oil finish, offering a similar feel to a well-played-in neck. the atz100s fretboard width measures 1.6 at the nut, slightly narrower than the prestige az, and the neck shape is also slightly thicker, to mirror andys well-established signature at guitar. dimarzio the cruiser pickups, andys favorite, are installed in all positions. the combination of these pickups delivers single-coil tone, open voiced mid-range, and a bit of added strength in the bass response. these pickups provide a consistent, even magnetic field resulting in better sustain and steadier volume response. the guitar also includes the smooth taper volume filter, which maintains the guitars high frequencies even at low volumes, providing more uniform tone from 1 to 10. the wilkinson-gotoh vsvg tremolo unit supports smooth arm action and the unique design of its elongated baseplate screw holes help promote accurate pitch return by eliminating binding. the locking bent-steel saddles also provide a vintage tone and feel. the string mounting holes in the steel block are staggered to help keep string angle over the saddles consistent, helping to increase tuning stability. gotoh magnum lock machine heads, which have an established reputation for tuning stability, are mounted on the headstock. its h.a.p (height adjustable post). system allows for the adjustment of string post height to achieve the appropriate tension and string angle for each string individually. hard-shell case included.
